A very warm hello to everybody. Hope you've had a relaxing holiday and you're ready for this month's genuinely hard work.

This month's project will be writing an extended essay on the topic of 'Globalisation'. The essay will be an academic essay where you will reflect everything you will learn from your research in your writing. To this end, you will read on the topic, listen to lectures, get involved in seminar discussions and do research on the Internet and in the Library on 'globalisation' in relation to the topic you will be studying in your degree programme. I would suggest that you begin your research soon. One word of caution: Not every site you will visit on the Internet will be a reliable source to be exploited. Be aware that only the websites with the extension such as .edu, ac.uk, org, and .net will be reliable sources. The websites with the 'com' extension are commercial websites usually trying to sell you an idea or a product. So be very wary of such sites. You can also do a search on the 'Scholarly Articles' function of the Google search engine, which brings up all the scientific articles written by authorities in the field from respectable journals. I will talk about how to do your research on the net tomorrow in class.
